The US president says he has “no choice” amongst candidates to succeed the late Pope Francis
US President Donald Trump has joked that he wish to turn out to be the subsequent head of the Catholic Church when requested about potential successors to the late Pope Francis.
“I’d prefer to be pope. That may be my primary selection,” the president quipped, earlier than including that he had “no choice” within the matter.
Trump went on to say, “Now we have a cardinal that occurs to be out of a spot known as New York, who is excellent.”
He didn’t make clear whom he was referring to. Cardinal Timothy Dolan, the Archbishop of New York since 2009, was elevated to the Faculty of Cardinals in 2012.
